IllustraBrazil is an insightful exhibition featuring different aspects of that country through editorial & advertising illustration, comics and animation works by 100 of the finest contemporary Brazilian graphic artists. Held from August 20th – September 25th 2011 in Shanghai, the festival also includes a series of lectures and workshops in Chinese universities, children guided tours, and a business seminar by the Society of Illustrators of Brazil at the prestigious RockBund Art Museum featuring cases of Brazilian illustration, comics and animation projects for international clients.

The Sunhoo Festival for Creativity and Innovation took place in the cities of Hangzhou and FuYang to explore the relationship between design, industry, art and technology through art installations and an international forum. Keynote speakers included fashion designer Enesoe Chan, from Curitiba; architect Cecilia Reichstul, from São Paulo; and graphic designer Bruno Porto, from Rio de Janeiro.

Milton Viola Fernandes (Rio de Janeiro RJ 1923). Satirical cartoonist, caricaturist, illustrator, writer, poet, playwright, translator. At the age of 13, he was hired by the magazine, O Cruzeiro, where he carried out a variety of journalistic tasks: writing captions, pagination and working as office boy. In an attempt to improve his skills, he attended the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios [School of Arts and Crafts] of Rio de Janeiro from 1938 to 1943.
